I agree on the import markings. Wish they could be a little more discrete on where they place them. Thanks for the info, that's the way I understand it from what I've read. The first number in the serial number represented the arsenal and each arsenal started with letters A-Z and then started over with AA and so on as rifles were produced. I'm hoping that some one knows what letters were produced during what month and year. It's not a real big deal but would be interesting to know. This rifle has been waiting for me for over 70 years so I guess I can be patient as well. ![]() ![]() For particular example this particular rifle is manufactured in 1943 with the serial prefix BA 1XXXX, with a stylised M next to the date stamp.
