For the extra hassle of adding a computer, software, hardware, learning curve, etc., I just don’t think it’s that much of an improvement.

which did help so maybe I just need to be more diligent here. I did change some Mimic threshold settings etc.

I’m noticing considerably more “hot spotting”.Initially numerous pads still triggered the wrong instrument but at least when I change the MIDI note as EZD recommended it worked much better. So I changed the mapping module to Roland – it worked much better. When I attempted change the MIDI note as recommended by EZD it still triggered incorrectly (i.e., a tom sounded as a crash, etc.). Originally I selected “Other” as my module but I encounter a problem where numerous pads triggered the wrong instrument.

Since SD3 does not have a “demo” version in an effort to “test” this I downloaded EZDrummer2 in hopes that it would be close to SD3 albeit it not an exact representation.Īfter a bit of a convoluted effort I was finally able to install and configure EZD2 with my Pearl Mimic Pro module. I’ve heard/read that Superior Drummer 3 is much more realistic sounding than Steven Slate Drums.

Other Drum Software that does support midi mapping: BFG, Addictive Drums, and Steven Slate are some. Not sure if you are interested in the opinion of a true layperson – if so, please read on. ToonTrack told me I get what I get and to purchase Superior Drummer which does have Midi Mapping for an additional $200. I just spent $247 this week for software I cant use and I want to warn other Reaper users of the issue. This is not clearly stated on any of their videos that promote EZ Drummer. This means if you hit the snare pad and the sound you get is the ride cymbal, that's just the way it is and you cant change it, period. **IF YOU PLAN ON HOOKING UP YOUR E-DRUM KIT TO PLAY EZ DRUMMER SOFTWARE, NO MAPPING IS IN THIS SOFTWARE**. Reaper has nothing to do with this midi mapping function, this must be done by the drum software. The problem is the EZDrummer Software not having a midi map. The midi files worked great and sounded fantastic, and the individual drum channel separation worked perfect in Reaper. I purchased EZdrummer and the expansion pack "The Classics" to use in Reaper.
